Here's the new All-American Rejects video for the song "I Wanna". I believe the single is only going to be released in the UK though. Pretty straight-forward performance type video, with a sexy chick thrown in for good mesure. Solid song, but not as catchy as "Gives You Hell". These Oklahoma rockers are putting out some really good music lately.

Your Tip For the Day
Here's your tip for the day... staying up late drinking beer and tequila shots doesn't help prepare you to run a 5K the following morning in the hot sun. Make a note. I ran the Dino Dash 5K to kick off my Summer 5K runs. It was sort of the spur of the moment. I knew about it and had been thinking about running but I woke up early and figured what the heck? What the heck was I hit the wall about the 2 mile mark and sludged across the finished line in my slowest time in years. Oh well, I'll make up for it soon.
Sunny and hot today... somebody is going to be hitting the lake and launching his new boat in a few hours with some friends... it's officially on.
You can busy yourself with this sexy beer commercial for Bavaria beer while I'm gone.

New Drowning Pool Video
Watch the new music video from Dallas' Drowning Pool for their song "Shame", the follow up to "37 Stitches" off their newest CD, Full Circle. Seems like they've been supporting this CD for a long time, and I guess that's because they have. It's been out for nearly 2 years. I believe this is the 4th single released to radio from it (Soldiers, 37 Stitches, Enemy).

Loose Lips Video
Check out the official video for "Loose Lips", the second single from the Last Vegas' album Whatever Gets You Off. Scantily clad women and some sleezy rock n roll... what's not to like here? I mean you've got to love the completely random shots of the girls in their bras and panties. Brilliant!

Movie Review: Anvil! The Story of Anvil
Synopsis: At 14, best friends Robb Reiner and Lips made a pact to rock together forever. Their band, Anvil, hailed as the "demi-gods of Canadian metal," influenced a musical generation that includes Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax, despite never hitting the big time. Following a calamitous European tour, Lips and Robb, now in their fifties, set off to record their 13th album in one last attempt to fulfill their boyhood dreams. This is the story of Anvil.I had the good fortune of seeing this movie with the stars, Anvil, in the theater. They played a short set (White Rhino, This is 13, 666, Metal on Metal) afterward in the theater and it's obvious they still rock. I was shocked at how good they sounded. But first, the movie review.
This movie goes to 11. It's a documentary that feels more like a mockumentary really, but it's all true. It reminded me many times of This Is Spinal Tap, one of my favorite rock movies ever, but also at times it reminded me a lot of Metallica's Some Kind Of Monster documentary as well, with a lot of emotion and band turmoil. The guys are extremely likable and I found myself really pulling for them as underdogs and just good guys. But the real memorable and enjoyable thing about the film is the humor.
I was in an absolutely packed theater, over-packed to be honest (people sitting in the aisles even), and people were laughing and cheering all the way through as the band faced minor disasters and unintentional humor left-and-right. Lips and Robb are just so damn likable and seeing how much they truly love playing the music and how much they dream of being huge, it's just awesome. Everyone who likes music, every genre, and has dreamed of making it should see this film.
They argue like brothers, they make-up like best friends and show genuine emotion as we learn from their families how badly they want this, how hard they work and how much their friends and families care about them and want it for them too. I was actually moved to tears a couple of times. Some of the most moving parts are when Lips gets so upset by something his lip is literally quivering as he fights back tears. You just sort of want to hug the little fella.
Rock stars from Slash to Lemmy to Lars Ulrich chime in with their thoughts and it adds some heaviness and helps to show just how close these guys must have been to being "in the big time" back in the early 80s, before bands like Metallica. Backstage at a huge more current festival, it's a blast to see Lips acting like a lovestruck teen as he gets to meet some of his idols.
Regardless of whether or not you like Anvil, or even metal for that matter, go see this. It's hilarious. It's sad. It's entertaining. It's heart-warming. It's actually very uplifting as well. It's just a rare feel-good movie all around.
9.5/10
As much as I loved the film itself, the added experience of seeing it with them in attendance and then having them come walking down the aisle, Lips with a huge smile on his face as they received a hero's welcome and standing ovation, is one of the greatest movie/musical experiences of my lifetime. The guys can still rock, no doubt, and they enjoy it the whole time. For once in my life at a concert, when Lips exclaimed "This is just too cool!", I felt like the lead singer actually meant it.

They Had To See This Coming?
This maybe the greatest headline I've ever read. For real:"Guinness Record Holder For "The Most Lawsuits Filed" Sues Guinness Book of Records For Naming Him As The Person With The Most Lawsuits Filed"
No, I'm serious. Here's a link to the whole story. It's also the most pathetic thing I've ever read I think. Aren't there enough frivolous lawsuits tying up the court's time and money? People will literally sue for anything nowadays.
Here's some excerpts:
The “Lawsuit Zeus,” also known as “Johnny Sue-nami,” filed a lawsuit this week in federal court seeking an injunction to stop the Guinness Book of World Records from naming him as the person who has filed the most lawsuits in the history of mankind.
Riches alleges that Guinness is planning to print false information about the number of lawsuits he has filed, which he says is more than 4,000 worldwide. And he objects to the names Guinness intends to call him, including: “The litigator crusader,” the “duke of lawsuits,” “Johnny Sue-nami,” “Sue-per-man” and the “Patrick Ewing of suing.”
“I’ve filed so many lawsuits with my pen and right hand that I got arthritis in my fingers, numbness in my wrists, crooked fingers,” he wrote – by hand – in the latest filing. “I flush out more lawsuits than a sewer.”
In the injunction filed in Richland, Riches – who acknowledges he is receiving treatment for mental-health problems – said: “The Guinness Book of World Records have no right to publish my work, my legal masterpieces.”
Those include lawsuits against New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, former President George W. Bush, Somali pirates, Britney Spears and Martha Stewart, according to a Wikipedia page dedicated to Riches’ litigious exploits.
He’s also filed lawsuits against Plato, Nostradamus, James Hoffa, “Various Buddhist Monks,” the Lincoln Memorial, the Eiffel Tower and Three Mile Island.
In his latest court filing, Riches wrote about how he sued Black History Month, the president of Iran and butter substitute I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!
“When I get out of prison, I’m going to start a Lawsuit 101 shop and teach Americans how to file pro se lawsuits,” meaning lawsuits filed without an attorney, said Riches, who may be released from federal custody in 2012.
“I will sell Jonathan Lee Riches T-shirts (saying), ‘Watch what you do, or I’ll sue you.’ ”

Excess Beer Cans?
So let's say that you, like I did, drank many, many cans of beer this past holiday weekend. What to do with all of them? Of course you could recycle them, which is the responsible thing to do. But also, you could build cool stuff and post the pics on the Internet, which I would much prefer.
Like this cool beer can bazooka thing:

Or what woman wouldn't love to have some of this cool bracelets?
And for the kiddies, this awesome little boat. I'd make sure they were good swimmers before launching it though:
A royal throne for your majesty?
A kick-ass beer can car should get you plenty of attention from the po-po:
And if the kid's boat above was successful, then how about this nice beer yacht:

Movie Review: Terminator Salvation
Synopsis: John Connor (Christian Bale) is the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright, a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations. While I wasn't blown away by the story or the acting, I think both are adequate and the real stars are the action and effects, which this movie has boatloads of both. I thought the cinematography was great and very dark. It's a bleak and disturbing future and that comes across well. The action sequences are intense, loud and full of eye-candy type CGI. I liked the looks of the robots, cyborgs and machines. Also, Danny Elfman's score is really good.
But the story did seem to really lack meat and potatoes like the emotional first film or even the second one. This one is more about whistles and bells, which leaves it feeling a bit heartless at the center. Christian Bale seems to want to emote, but there's really not much for him to sink his teeth into. He's pretty much in 1 mood most of the time... angry and ready to kick butt. John Conner's character doesn't really call for much more than that at this point. Actually, most of the characters in this one are pretty wooden.
There are a few nods to the other films, which was sort of cool I thought. Arnie "sort of" makes an appearance, Guns N Roses "You Could Be Mine" blasts from a boom box and Conner ushers the classic line "I'll be back".
Personally, this is what I like from my Summer blockbusters sometimes. Less thinking, more explosions. This isn't as good as the first 2 in the series but better than T3. The action sequences are fantastic and it looks and sounds great. I had fun.
7.5/10

Final Memorial Day Video
Here's my last video for the holiday. It's Metallica's "One" and it's theme is based on Dalton Trumbo's 1939 novel Johnny Got His Gun. It is the story of a soldier whose body was severely damaged after he was hit by German artillery during World War I. His arms, legs, eyes, mouth, nose and ears were gone and he could not see, speak, smell, or hear; but his mind functions perfectly, leaving him a prisoner in his own body.

Movie Review: Slumdog Millionaire
A Mumbai teen who grew up in the slums, becomes a contestant on the Indian version of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" He is arrested under suspicion of cheating, and while being interrogated, events from his life history are shown which explain why he knows the answers. This is one of those films that I saw the trailer, wasn't too impressed, then listened to critics fawn all over it so much that I just figured it had to suck. It just seemed uninteresting to me, but I couldn't have been farther from the truth. I finally watched it and found it to be a very entertaining and memorable film on all levels.
It ends up being a look at the poverty of another culture sort of disguised as a feel-good love story. There's some social commentary for sure, but there's also laughs, action and drama. It's a nice mix of all these things. Any movie that has the main stream of it's story be about a TV game show, yet still has enslavement, police brutality, torture and slaughter, it's really running the full gauntlet of emotions (and entertainment) in my book. Once I started watching it I couldn't wait to see what happened next, and I never had to wait long. It's got a great pace and the storytelling is superb.
At a time when the majority of movies coming out are sequels, based on video games, based on comic books or remakes this is a nice little escapist trip that's pretty original, really well shot and wonderfully entertaining. In a word... refreshing.
